However, public hospitals and clinics in Almaty may face challenges such as outdated equipment, long waiting times, and limited availability of specialized treatments. In contrast, private healthcare facilities in Almaty offer a higher standard of care, with modern equipment and well-trained medical professionals. These facilities often cater to expatriates and wealthier citizens, providing a wide range of services, including dental care, maternity services, and specialized treatments. Private hospitals and clinics in Almaty usually have shorter waiting times and better patient care, but the cost of treatment can be significantly higher than in public facilities. Pharmacies are widely available throughout Almaty, with both prescription and over-the-counter medications accessible to residents. However, it is essential to ensure that medications are genuine and not counterfeit, as this can be a problem in some areas. Overall, healthcare services in Almaty are improving, with the government investing in the modernization of public facilities and the growth of private healthcare options.
