Finally, it is important to take advantage of the city's many cultural attractions, such as the Georgia Aquarium, the High Museum of Art, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden," remarked one expat who made the move to Atlanta.

How do I find a place to live in Atlanta?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"When looking for a place to live in Atlanta, it is important to consider your budget, desired location, and amenities. Start by researching neighborhoods that fit your needs and budget. You can use online resources such as Zillow, Trulia, and HotPads to search for available rentals in the area. Additionally, you can contact local real estate agents to help you find the perfect place. Once you have narrowed down your search, you can visit the properties in person to get a better feel for the area," wrote a member in Atlanta.

"Came to visit first and looked at several with a real estate broker, always rent in neighborhood before buying, which I did," commented one expat who made the move to Atlanta.

"Town home, typical for most expats is apartment/flat/townhome. Note, a townhome in the states is about the size of a normal street street house in Europe, mine is 2,500sq ft, which is 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms kitchen dining and living rooms," said one expat in Atlanta.

What should I bring when moving to Atlanta?

"Atlanta is a small city with big green suburbs. People are friendly, more relaxed than in NYC. I enjoyed having a big house in a small private community, it is very green. Additionally, the city is very spread out, making it difficult to get around without a car. The local cuisine is also quite different from what many expats are used to, and the Southern hospitality can be a bit overwhelming for those who are not used to it. Finally, the hot and humid climate can be a challenge for those who are not used to it," remarked one expat living in Atlanta, the United States.

"Atlanta has seen an increase in crime in recent years. Violent crime, property crime, and drug-related offenses have all been on the rise. What are the schools in Atlanta like?

"The Atlanta International School (AIS) is one of the best international schools in Atlanta. AIS is an independent, non-profit, co-educational day school offering an international curriculum for students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. AIS offers a rigorous academic program that emphasizes global citizenship, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art. The Atlanta Bilingual Academy (ABA) is another excellent bilingual school in Atlanta. ABA is a private, non-profit, co-educational day school offering a bilingual curriculum for students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Department of Education. ABA offers a comprehensive academic program that emphasizes language development, cultural awareness, and global citizenship. "THEY DO NOT HAVE A BULLYING POLICY so if this is important for your child's well-being, look elsewhere. The school does not address these types of problems between students and turns their heads to all sorts of issues related to adjustment and personal well-being for the child," explained one expat living in Atlanta, US.

"In order to obtain a visa to enter Atlanta, an individual must first apply for a nonimmigrant visa through the U.S. Department of State. This process requires the applicant to fill out an online application, pay the required fees, and attend an interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once the visa is approved, the individual can enter the United States. In order to apply for residency in Atlanta, an individual must first obtain a green card. This process requires the applicant to fill out an application, provide evidence of their eligibility, and attend an interview at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office.
