What advice do overseas retirees have for others considering retiring abroad?
"Retirees in Todos Santos recommend that those considering retiring abroad take their time to really explore the area they are considering. Get to know the local culture and its people, both through visiting and reading up on the area. They also suggest researching healthcare availability and cost, as this is an important part of retirement. Finally, be open to the unique and diverse experiences that come with living in a foreign country," commented one retiree living in Todos Santos, Mexico.
What are the most challenging aspects of retiring in Todos Santos?
"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Todos Santos is the language barrier. Even though there is a significant amount of bilingual locals, not everyone living in Todos Santos speaks English fluently, which can make it difficult for those who do not speak Spanish, to communicate with employees for local services. Additionally, medical care may be more difficult to access due to limited resources, so retirees may face longer wait times and travel to larger cities for specialized treatments. Furthermore, Todos Santos is a small, picturesque village without many amenities, so the cost of living does not include the conveniences of modern cities such as public transportation, malls, and multiple entertainment options. Lastly, Internet speeds are slower than urban locations, and can struggle to keep up with the demands of modern technology," said one retiree in living in Todos Santos, Mexico.
