"The cost of living in Phuket is generally considered to be quite affordable. Groceries, transportation, and basic services are all relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of the world. Eating out at restaurants is also quite affordable, with many local eateries offering delicious meals for a fraction of the cost of what you would pay in other countries. Accommodation can range from budget-friendly guesthouses to luxury resorts, so there is something to suit all budgets," remarked one expat in Phuket.

Will I save money living in Phuket?

"Living in Phuket can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Phuket is much lower than in the US, with rent, food, and transportation being much more affordable. Additionally, the cost of healthcare is much lower in Thailand than in the US, making it a great option for those looking to save money," explained one expat living in Phuket.

What is the average cost of housing in Phuket?

If you are thinking about moving to Phuket, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Phuket can vary greatly depending on the location and type of accommodation. Generally, the average cost of a one-bedroom apartment in the city centre is around 15,000-20,000 baht per month, while a two-bedroom apartment can cost around 25,000-30,000 baht per month. Outside of the city centre, the cost of housing can be significantly lower, with one-bedroom apartments costing around 10,000-15,000 baht per month and two-bedroom apartments costing around 20,000-25,000 baht per month," said one expat in Phuket.

"Much lower of course! But I do deal with funky factors, not so clean, not so airtight and not so functional," remarked one in Phuket.

For a nice 2 bedroom apartment, the rental price can range from around $600 to $1,500 per month, again depending on the location and amenities," commented one expat who moved to Phuket.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Phuket what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In a rental property in Phuket, tenants can typically expect to find a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, washing machine, and air conditioning unit. Additionally, some properties may also include a dishwasher, water heater, and other small appliances," mentioned one expat in Phuket.
