"The cost of living in Granada is relatively low compared to other cities in the region. Basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing are all quite affordable. Eating out at restaurants is also quite inexpensive, with meals costing around $3-5 USD. Utilities such as electricity and water are also quite affordable, with monthly bills typically ranging from $20-50 USD. Overall, Granada is a great place to live if you are looking for a low cost of living," remarked one expat in Granada.
"Live like a Nica on $500 a month or buy your expansive colonial home and entertain lavishly. We find we can live on around $1500 a month but emergencies do happen and that does not include flights back home. The world is different now with many things being fairly expensive now like gas, flights overseas, rising food costs, etc. We do have concerns on the falling dollar," explained one expat living in Granada.

Will I save money living in Granada?
"It is easy to live simply and inexpensively here but it means no more traveling extensively unless you have a good retirement income. The question is the lifestyle you want to have," remarked one in Granada.
"Living in Granada can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Nicaragua is much lower than in the United States, with basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing costing significantly less. Additionally, the Nicaraguan currency, the Cordoba, is worth much less than the US dollar, making it easier to stretch your money further. As a result, living in Granada, Nicaragua can be a great way to save money," explained one expat.

We asked foreigners in Granada what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"Rental properties in Granada typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Some properties may also include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning. Depending on the property, other appliances such as a clothes dryer, water heater, and water filter may also be included," said one expat living in Granada.
