"The cost of living in Amalfi, is considered relatively high, especially when compared to other parts of Italy. This is largely due to its popularity as a tourist destination. The cost of housing is quite high, with both rentals and property prices being above the national average. Groceries and other basic necessities are also more expensive than in other parts of the country. Eating out at restaurants, particularly those with views of the sea, can be quite pricey. Transportation costs can also add up, especially if you're relying on taxis or private transfers. However, public transportation options like buses and ferries are more affordable. Despite the high cost of living, many people find the beauty and charm of Amalfi to be worth the expense. The town offers a high quality of life with its stunning views, historic sites, and access to beautiful beaches," explained one expat living in Amalfi.

Will I save money living in Amalfi?

"The cost of living in Amalfi can be lower or higher than in the United States depending on various factors. Generally, expenses such as dining out and groceries tend to be cheaper in Amalfi compared to many parts of the United States. However, real estate in Amalfi, especially in the city center or with sea views, can be quite expensive. Utilities and internet costs are also typically higher in Italy. Healthcare in Italy is significantly cheaper than in the United States, and public transportation is also more affordable. However, owning and maintaining a car can be more expensive due to higher fuel costs. In terms of taxes, Italy has a higher tax rate compared to the United States, which could offset some of the potential savings. Overall, whether or not you save money by living in Amalfi, Italy compared to the United States will largely depend on your lifestyle, spending habits, and where specifically you are comparing it to in the United States," remarked one in Amalfi.

"The average cost of housing in Amalfi can vary greatly depending on the location and size of the property. For a one-bedroom apartment in the city center, the cost can be quite high, while a similar apartment outside of the city center may be significantly less expensive. Larger properties, such as three-bedroom apartments or houses, can be quite costly, especially if they offer views of the sea or are located near popular tourist attractions. However, it's important to note that these are average costs and actual prices can vary based on a variety of factors," explained one expat living in Amalfi.
