How do I find a place to live in Armenia?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"To find a place to live in Armenia, you can start by researching online on websites such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and OLX Colombia, which offer various accommodation options like apartments, houses, and shared rooms. You can also join local Facebook groups or expat forums where people often post about available rentals or roommates needed. Another option is to visit Armenia and explore the neighborhoods in person. This will give you a better understanding of the area and help you find a place that suits your needs. You can walk around the city, look for "Se Arrienda" (For Rent) signs, and talk to locals who might know of available properties. Additionally, you can contact local real estate agencies or property management companies that can help you find a suitable place to live. They can provide you with a list of available properties based on your preferences and budget. Lastly, consider asking friends, family, or colleagues who live in Armenia or have connections there for recommendations. They might know of available rentals or can put you in touch with someone who does," remarked one member in Armenia.

If you are thinking about moving to Armenia, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The average cost of housing in Armenia, can vary depending on the type of property and location. Generally, the prices for apartments range from affordable to moderately expensive, while houses can be more costly. In the city center, the cost of renting a one-bedroom apartment is relatively low, while outside the city center, it is even more affordable. For larger apartments or houses, the prices increase accordingly. Should I buy or rent a home in Armenia?

If you have not spent a lot of time in Armenia, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"The decision to buy or rent a home in Armenia, depends on your personal circumstances, financial situation, and long-term plans. If you plan to stay in Armenia for an extended period and have the financial means, buying a home can be a good investment, as it allows you to build equity and potentially benefit from the appreciation of property values. Additionally, owning a home provides stability and the freedom to make changes to the property as you see fit. On the other hand, if you are unsure about your long-term plans or prefer flexibility, renting may be a better option. Renting a home in Armenia allows you to explore different neighborhoods and types of properties without the commitment of homeownership. It also provides the opportunity to save money for a future home purchase or other investments. Furthermore, renting can be a more affordable option in the short term, as it typically requires less upfront capital and does not involve property taxes or maintenance costs. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Armenia, Colombia, should be based on your individual needs, preferences, and financial situation. It is essential to carefully consider your options and consult with a local real estate expert to make the best decision for your circumstances," said one person in Armenia.
