Additionally, expats looking for long-term rentals in Grecia can take advantage of websites such as AIRBNB, which showcases private rooms and apartments. Lastly, one of the best ways to find a place to live in Grecia is by visiting the city and walking or driving around the streets to find signs advertising rental units. With a bit of research and a willingness to explore, you can find the perfect place to live in Grecia," said one person in Grecia, Costa Rica.

Most residences are typically equipped with modern amenities and appliances, and come with functional and modern furniture as well. Expats can also often find homes and apartments with a private pool and terrace, making the outdoor area perfect for relaxing. What is the average cost of housing in Grecia?

If you are thinking about moving to Grecia, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Grecia can vary depending on the type of property and size. On average, renting a one-bedroom apartment in Grecia will cost between $250 and $500 per month, while a three-bedroom house can range from $500 to $1000 a month. Buying a home in Grecia will cost more but can range from $50,000 to $400,000 depending on the size and location of the property," remarked one member in Grecia, Costa Rica.

Should I buy or rent a home in Grecia?

If you have not spent a lot of time in Grecia, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"I am renting an apartment for now. $800/month not including utilities. I would like to buy eventually. The process was done via a friend so that was helpful, but, to pay in cash to avoid taxes is a challenge. I have no idea how I am to pay the bills for electricity, water, cable, etc," explained one person living in Grecia, Costa Rica.

"The decision to buy or rent a home in Grecia depends on your individual needs and circumstances. If you don't plan on staying long-term, or if you're looking for more flexibility, renting a home may be the best option. On the other hand, buying a home can be a wise investment in real estate and allows you to build equity over time. Additionally, you will have the freedom to customize and renovate the property. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent in Grecia should be based on your individual needs and plans for the future," said one expat in Grecia, Costa Rica.

What do I need to know when buying property in Grecia?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Grecia, they said:

"It is important to do your research before investing in real estate in Grecia. You should consider the location carefully, as well as the condition of the property and its proximity to services, among other things. You should also investigate the building regulations and zoning codes in force in the area. You will also need the services of a lawyer with specialized expertise in real estate who can explain the legal implications of buying property in the country. You should also understand the local tax laws to make sure you are compliant when buying property in Grecia, Costa Rica. It is also important that appropriate title insurance is taken out on the property and that due diligence is undertaken on the title to verify its legality and ownership. Additionally, you may need to take out home insurance to cover the property against potential risks," said one foreigner living in Grecia, Costa Rica.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Grecia?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Grecia, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Grecia. The Costa Rican government has established a legal framework that allows foreign citizens to purchase and own real estate in the country. The process is relatively straightforward and involves obtaining a residency permit, registering the property with the local government, and paying the applicable taxes. Additionally, foreign citizens are allowed to lease property in Grecia, Costa Rica, as long as they have a valid residency permit," said one foreigner living in Grecia, Costa Rica.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Grecia what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Grecia usually come with basic kitchen appliances such as a refrigerator and stove, as well as washer/dryers. Some properties may also include a dishwasher or microwave. As for the bedrooms, most will have closets and some may include ceiling fans. Additionally, many properties include a patio or balcony area, as well as access to various shared community amenities," said one expat in Grecia.
