"When buying property in Montezuma, it is important to research the local laws and regulations regarding real estate transactions. It is also important to understand the local tax implications of owning property in Costa Rica. It is also important to be aware of the local infrastructure and services available in the area, such as access to water, electricity, and internet. Additionally, it is important to be aware of the local climate and any potential natural disasters that could affect the property. Finally, it is important to work with a reputable real estate agent or lawyer to ensure that the transaction is conducted legally and safely," said one expat in Montezuma.
Are foreigners allowed to own property in Montezuma?
When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Montezuma, they said...
"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Montezuma. The country has a law known as the Foreign Investment Law, which allows foreign citizens to purchase and own property in Costa Rica. The law also allows foreign citizens to obtain residency in the country, and to open businesses. However, there are certain restrictions in place, such as the requirement to obtain a permit from the Costa Rican government before purchasing property. Additionally, foreigners are not allowed to own property within 50 kilometers of the coast or within 10 kilometers of the border," wrote one expat who made the move to Montezuma.
What appliances are typically included in a rental?
We asked foreigners in Montezuma what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"Rental properties in Montezuma typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. Other common appliances include a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher. Additionally, some properties may include air conditioning, ceiling fans, and a water heater," said one in Montezuma.
