"When deciding whether to buy or rent a home in Cairo, it is important to consider the cost of living, the availability of housing, and the local economy. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Cairo should be based on individual needs and preferences," remarked one member in Cairo.

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Cairo, they said:

Make sure to inspect the property thoroughly before making a purchase, as there may be hidden defects or problems that need to be addressed. 6. Be aware of the local laws and regulations regarding property ownership in Cairo. 7. Consider the availability of public transportation and other amenities in the area. 8. Make sure to get a title deed for the property, as this will provide proof of ownership," said one in Cairo.

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Cairo. However, there are certain restrictions and regulations that they must follow. Foreigners can purchase a maximum of two properties for residential purposes, and the total area of the properties should not exceed 4,000 square meters. Additionally, the property must be used for personal residence and cannot be rented out or used for commercial purposes. Foreigners are also required to obtain a permit from the Egyptian government before purchasing the property, and the process can take several months. It is also important to note that foreigners cannot own agricultural land or property in certain strategic locations, such as border areas," explained one expat in Cairo.

We asked foreigners in Cairo what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In a rental property in Cairo, tenants can typically expect to find a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and air conditioning unit. Additionally, some properties may also include a dishwasher, microwave, and water heater," said one foreigner living in Cairo, Egypt.
