They are also not allowed to purchase land in areas that are deemed to be of strategic importance. Foreigners are allowed to purchase residential property, but they must obtain prior approval from the Reserve Bank of India before doing so. Additionally, they must also register the property with the local authorities," wrote one expat who made the move to Mussoorie.
