If you have not spent a lot of time in Lucea, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"The decision to buy or rent a home in Lucea depends on several factors. If you plan to stay in the area for a long time and have the financial means, buying a home could be a good investment. Owning a property allows you to build equity and potentially benefit from the appreciation of the property's value over time. Additionally, you can customize your home to suit your preferences and needs. On the other hand, if you are unsure about your long-term plans or prefer flexibility, renting might be a better option. Renting a home in Lucea allows you to avoid the responsibilities and costs associated with homeownership, such as property taxes, maintenance, and repairs. It also provides the flexibility to move more easily if your circumstances change or if you decide to explore other parts of Jamaica. Ultimately, the choice between buying and renting a home in Lucea depends on your personal preferences, financial situation, and long-term plans. It is essential to carefully consider these factors and weigh the pros and cons of each option before making a decision," said one expat in Lucea.
