"The cost of housing in Todos Santos, varies depending on the type of housing and its location. Generally, housing in the area is moderately priced and is a great bargain in comparison with other areas in Mexico. Renting a property usually costs between $400 and $800 per month, while buying a property can range from moderately priced to quite expensive," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Todos Santos.

"The decision of whether to buy or rent a home in Todos Santos should depend on your individual needs and financial situation. Buying a home in Todos Santos can be a significant investment and is ideal if you plan to stay in the area for an extended period of time. Renting a home in Todos Santos is a great option if you are looking for a short-term commitment or the flexibility to move or travel elsewhere if your circumstances change. It's important to evaluate your budget and lifestyle in order to make the best decision," explained one expat living in Todos Santos, Mexico.

What do I need to know when buying property in Todos Santos?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Todos Santos, they said:

"When buying property in Todos Santos, it is important to understand the local laws and regulations, as well as any taxation rules or restrictions that may apply. When considering purchasing property in Todos Santos, it is important to hire a reputable real estate attorney who can help you with local market conditions, inspections and any required paperwork. Make sure you conduct title searches to ensure the property is free and clear of any claims or any other type of liens. Additionally, be aware of zoning requirements, as certain activities are restricted in some areas. Prior to purchasing property, it is highly recommended to visit the property to ensure the property meets your expectations. Finally, prepare to pay a transfer tax that is usually a percentage of the purchase price," explained one expat in Todos Santos.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Todos Santos?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Todos Santos, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Todos Santos. According to Mexican law, foreigners are allowed to purchase property in Mexico through a fideicomiso, which is a trust that is set up between a Mexican bank and the foreign buyer. The bank acts as a trustee and holds the title to the property on behalf of the foreign buyer. This allows the foreign buyer to have all the rights of ownership, including the right to use, possess, and transfer the property," explained one person living in Todos Santos, Mexico.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Todos Santos what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Typical appliances included in a rental property in Todos Santos commonly include a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and washing machine. Some properties may also offer a dishwasher, air conditioning, and even a dryer. Some rental properties may have BBQ grills or other outdoor appliances as well," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Todos Santos.

Additionally, expats can look for homes for sale by attending open houses, visiting local real estate offices, and networking with other expats in the area," said one expat in Todos Santos.
