What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Ronda?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Ronda about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the Spanish healthcare system. Spain has a high standard of healthcare and maternity services, and as an expat, you may be eligible for free healthcare if you are a resident and paying social security. Secondly, consider hiring a doula or midwife who speaks your native language. This can be a great help in navigating the healthcare system and ensuring you understand everything during your pregnancy and birth. Thirdly, learn some Spanish medical terms related to pregnancy and childbirth. This will help you communicate more effectively with your healthcare providers. Fourthly, be aware that the approach to childbirth may be different in Spain compared to your home country. For example, in Spain, it's common for women to stay in the hospital for a few days after giving birth. Fifthly, make sure to register the birth at the local registry office within eight days of the baby being born. This is a legal requirement in Spain. Lastly, connect with other expat parents in Ronda. They can provide valuable advice and support, and may be able to recommend doctors, midwives, and other services," explained one expat living in Ronda, Spain.
