What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Port of Spain?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Port of Spain about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"It is important to plan ahead and be prepared for the birth in Port of Spain. Make sure you research hospital options, speak with the hospital staff so you understand the protocol and the costs, and make sure to identify a reliable doctor and/or midwife who can provide support throughout your pregnancy and labor. Check to see if medical insurance is accepted at your chosen hospital, and don't forget to budget for the costs of childbirth and postnatal care. Additionally, ensure you have a good support network of family and friends who can provide assistance during the pregnancy and postnatal period. Lastly, take care of yourself throughout your pregnancy and look after any healthcare needs that arise," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.
