What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Ajman?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Ajman about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Firstly, it's important to understand the healthcare system in Ajam, UAE. The country has a high standard of healthcare and many doctors are English-speaking, but it's crucial to ensure you have adequate health insurance to cover all medical costs. Secondly, you should familiarize yourself with the local customs and laws regarding childbirth. In the UAE, it's illegal for unmarried couples to live together or have a baby, so ensure your marital status is legally recognized. Thirdly, it's advisable to start planning for your baby's birth as early as possible. This includes choosing a hospital or birthing center, finding a trusted doctor, and understanding the process of registering the birth and obtaining a birth certificate. Fourthly, consider hiring a doula or midwife who can provide additional support and guidance throughout your pregnancy and during childbirth. Fifthly, it's important to understand that the UAE has strict rules regarding vaccinations. Ensure your baby receives all the necessary immunizations, which are often mandatory for school enrollment. Lastly, remember to take care of your mental health. Being an expat and having a baby in a foreign country can be stressful, so don't hesitate to seek help if you're feeling overwhelmed. There are many support groups and resources available for expat parents in the UAE," commented one expat who made the move to Ajman, the UAE.
