What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Ho Chi Minh City?

Answer this Question

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Ho Chi Minh City about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"I would suggest checking on different hospitals, such as Tu Do, Columbia, FVH and a few others. Hospitals are competitive and like to show off what they do. Take a tour and choose a hospital one is comfortable with and will accept their respective insurance programs, if the prospective patient has one," remarked another expat in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

"1. Make sure to research the best hospitals and doctors in the area to ensure you have the best care for your baby. 2. Consider hiring a doula or midwife to provide additional support during the pregnancy and delivery. 3. Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding birth registration and citizenship. 4. Join an expat group or forum to connect with other expats who have had babies in the city and can provide helpful advice. 5. Consider taking a childbirth education class to learn more about the birthing process and what to expect. 6. Make sure to have a plan in place for postpartum care, including a support system of family and friends. 7. Research the availability of baby supplies and services in the city to ensure you have everything you need. 8. Take time to explore the city and find activities and places to visit with your baby," said a member in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
