You might want to consider traveling to Phnom Penh for regular check-ups and for the delivery, as it has better healthcare facilities. Secondly, ensure you have comprehensive health insurance that covers maternity and newborn care. Medical costs can be high, especially if complications arise. Thirdly, familiarize yourself with local customs and traditions related to pregnancy and childbirth. This can help you understand and respect the local culture, and also help you navigate any potential cultural misunderstandings. Fourthly, consider hiring a translator if you're not fluent in Khmer. This can be particularly helpful during medical appointments. Fifthly, make sure your passport and visa are up to date, and that you understand the process for registering the birth of your child. Your child may be eligible for dual citizenship, but this can be a complex process that requires a lot of paperwork. Lastly, try to connect with other expat parents in the area.
