What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Sao Paulo?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Sao Paulo about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Get the best health insurance you can, cause having a baby in Brazil is really expensive, especially if your pregnancy is considered risky," said another expat in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"1. Make sure to research the healthcare system in Sao Paulo and find a doctor or midwife that you trust and feel comfortable with. 2. Consider taking a childbirth class to learn more about the birthing process and what to expect. 3. Make sure to have all the necessary documents in order, such as a birth certificate and passport, before the baby is born. 4. Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding maternity leave and childcare. 5. Consider joining a local expat group or online forum to connect with other expats who have had babies in Sao Paulo. 6. Have a plan in place for how you will manage childcare and other responsibilities while you are on maternity leave. 7. Make sure to take time to relax and enjoy the experience of having a baby in a new country," wrote a member who made the move to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
