What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Nice?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Nice about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Using word of mouth is the best way to find a doctor. Also join a English speaking moms group while you are expecting. I was a little hesitant to join a group before I had given birth, but met a lovely group of women, many of whom I am still in contact with now. It was also through these women that I found my pediatrician who spoke English. (Dr. Bessier in Valbonne)," commented one expat who made the move to Nice, France.

"Ensure that you and your partner are familiar with the French healthcare system as it can be quite different to that of your home country. Research the hospitals in Nice and the surrounding area to locate those most convenient for you. Make sure to organise any necessary paperwork such as birth certificates, residency cards or passports for your baby in advance. Familiarise yourself with the maternity leave laws in France and contact your local social security office for details. Consult with your mutual health insurance provider to understand the coverage for maternity care in France as it may be different to what you have experienced in your home country. Finally, take the time to research and connect with local support groups of other parents in Nice who have gone through the experience of having babies in Nice," remarked another expat in Nice, France, France.
