Secondly, consider hiring a doula or a birth coach who can help you navigate the system and provide emotional support. They can also help with language barriers if you don't speak Japanese fluently. Thirdly, research and choose a hospital or birthing center that suits your needs. Some hospitals in Yokohama have English-speaking staff and are accustomed to dealing with expats. Fourthly, be aware that the approach to childbirth may be different in Japan compared to your home country. For example, epidurals are less common and there is a greater emphasis on natural childbirth. Fifthly, make sure to register the birth with your home country's embassy or consulate to ensure your child's citizenship rights. Sixthly, take advantage of local resources such as parenting classes and support groups for expats. These can be a great way to meet other parents and share experiences. Lastly, remember to enjoy this special time.
