What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Malacca?

Answer this Question

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Malacca about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"1. Make sure to research the local healthcare system and find a doctor or midwife that you trust and feel comfortable with. 2. Consider taking a childbirth education class to learn more about the birthing process and what to expect. 3. Ask your doctor or midwife about the availability of pain relief options during labor and delivery. 4. Make sure to have a plan for postpartum care, including a support system of family and friends who can help you with the baby. 5. Consider hiring a doula or postpartum care provider to help you with the transition to parenthood. 6. Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding maternity leave and childcare. 7. Take advantage of the cultural and social activities available in Malacca to meet other parents and build a community," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Malacca, Malaysia.
