Research and choose a hospital or birthing center that suits your needs and preferences. In San Carlos, there may be limited options, so you might need to travel to a larger city like Panama City for more choices. Find a good obstetrician or midwife who speaks your language or with whom you feel comfortable communicating. This will make your prenatal visits and the delivery process much smoother. Consider hiring a doula or birth coach who can provide emotional support and help navigate the healthcare system. Take prenatal classes if they are available. These can help prepare you for childbirth and parenthood, and can also be a great way to meet other expectant parents. Ensure that your legal paperwork is in order. This includes your visa status and the baby's citizenship and passport. It's also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the process of registering the birth in Panama.
