"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system in Panama. While the country has a good standard of healthcare, it may be different from what you're used to. Secondly, consider hiring a local doula or midwife who can guide you through the process and help you navigate the local healthcare system. They can also provide valuable support and advice during your pregnancy and childbirth. Thirdly, ensure you have comprehensive health insurance that covers maternity care. Check if your policy covers both prenatal and postnatal care, as well as any potential complications. Fourthly, learn some basic Spanish if you don't already speak it. While many healthcare professionals in Panama speak English, not all do, and it can be helpful to communicate in the local language. Fifthly, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork in order. This includes your passport, visa, and any other documents required by the hospital or clinic. Lastly, embrace the local culture and traditions. Having a baby in a foreign country can be a wonderful opportunity to learn about and participate in local customs related to childbirth and parenting," said a member in Volcan, Panama.
