Avoid making negative comments about the country or its people, as Guatemalans are very proud of their heritage and culture. It's also considered rude to refuse food or drink when offered by a host. Be aware that punctuality is not highly valued in Guatemala, so don't take it personally if people are late for meetings or appointments.
