It's also considered rude to refuse an invitation to someone's home. If you're invited, it's polite to bring a small gift as a token of appreciation. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics, religion, or racial issues unless you are well-informed and the conversation is appropriate. Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon, especially between same-sex couples due to the country's conservative views on homosexuality. It's also considered impolite to take photos of locals without their permission. Always ask before you snap a picture. Avoid wearing revealing clothing, especially in religious or formal settings. While beachwear is acceptable on the beach, it's not appropriate in town or in restaurants. Finally, remember that the local pace of life is slower in Jamaica.
