"In Le Marin, it's important to avoid discussing sensitive topics such as race, politics, and religion unless you are very familiar with the person you are talking to. It's also considered rude to interrupt someone while they are speaking. Avoid wearing revealing clothing in public places, as it is considered disrespectful. This is especially true in religious buildings or during religious ceremonies. Do not take photographs of locals without their permission. This is considered invasive and disrespectful. Avoid being overly loud or boisterous in public places, as this can be seen as disrespectful. Martiniquais people value tranquility and peace. Do not litter or disrespect the environment. Martinique is known for its beautiful natural landscapes and locals take pride in preserving it. Avoid being late for appointments or meetings. Punctuality is highly valued in Martinique. Do not assume everyone speaks English. While many people in Martinique do speak English, French is the official language and it's respectful to at least attempt to communicate in French. Avoid making negative comments about the local food, culture, or customs. This is considered highly disrespectful. Do not rush or push people to move faster. The pace of life in Martinique is generally slower than in many other places, and it's important to respect this. Avoid public displays of affection. While it's not completely taboo, it's generally considered more respectful to keep affectionate gestures private," wrote a member who made the move to Le Marin, Martinique.
