What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Pai. They wrote...
"Expats in Pai may find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English, and communication can be difficult. They might also struggle with the slower pace of life, as things tend to move at a more leisurely pace in Pai compared to Western countries. Adjusting to the local customs and etiquette, such as removing shoes before entering homes and temples, can also be challenging for some expats. Additionally, the hot and humid climate may be difficult to adapt to, especially for those coming from cooler regions. Finally, navigating the local bureaucracy and dealing with visa issues can be a source of frustration for expats living in Pai," remarked another expat in Thailand.
