What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Rayong. They wrote...

"Expats in Rayong often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and Thai can be difficult to learn. The cultural differences, such as the importance of saving face and the indirect communication style, can also be challenging for expats to navigate. The hot and humid climate can be difficult to adjust to, especially for those from cooler climates. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those used to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the local cuisine, while delicious, can be quite spicy and may not suit everyone's palate. Lastly, dealing with the local bureaucracy and understanding the legal system can be complex and frustrating for expats," remarked another expat in Rayong, Thailand.
