What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Phú Quoc Island. They wrote...
"Expats in Phú Quoc Island often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and communication can be difficult. They may also struggle with the local cuisine, which can be very different from Western food and may not suit everyone's tastes. The pace of life can also be a challenge, as it is typically slower and more relaxed than in Western countries, which can be frustrating for those used to a faster pace. Additionally, expats may find it difficult to navigate the local customs and etiquette, which can be quite different from what they are used to. Finally, the tropical climate, while beautiful, can also be challenging for those not used to the heat and humidity," explained one expat living in Phú Quoc Island, Vietnam.
