What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Isle of Arran. They wrote...

"Expats in Isle of Arran may find the local dialect and accents challenging to understand, as Scottish English can be quite distinct and different from standard English. The slower pace of life on the island, compared to larger cities, might also be a challenge for some expats who are used to a more fast-paced lifestyle. The weather can be another challenge, as Scotland is known for its cold, rainy, and unpredictable climate. Additionally, the island's remote location and limited amenities might be difficult for some expats, especially those who are used to having a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options readily available. Lastly, integrating into the close-knit community can be challenging, as locals may have lived on the island for generations and have established social circles," said another expat in Isle of Arran, Scotland.
