What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Cat Island. They wrote...
"Expats in Cat Island may find the slower pace of life challenging, as the local culture values relaxation and leisure over the hustle and bustle of city life. The island's isolation can also be a challenge, as it can be difficult to access certain goods and services that are readily available in more populated areas. Additionally, the local dialect and colloquialisms can be difficult to understand for those not familiar with Bahamian English. The lack of public transportation can also be a challenge for expats who are used to more developed infrastructure. Lastly, adjusting to the local cuisine, which is heavily based on seafood, can be a challenge for those who are not accustomed to such a diet," explained one expat living in Cat Island, Bahamas.
