"Expats in Consejo often find the slower pace of life challenging, as it can take longer to get things done compared to what they may be used to. The language barrier can also be a challenge, as while English is the official language, many locals speak Creole or Spanish. Some expats may also struggle with the lack of certain amenities and conveniences that they are accustomed to in their home countries. The hot and humid climate can be difficult to adjust to, especially for those from cooler regions. Additionally, understanding and navigating the local bureaucracy can be a challenge for many expats. Lastly, while Belizeans are generally friendly and welcoming, cultural differences can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or miscommunications," commented one expat who made the move to Consejo, Belize.
