What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Kampong Chhnang. They wrote...
"Expats in Kampong Chhnang may find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Khmer is the official language and English is not widely spoken. They may also struggle with the local customs and etiquette, which can be quite different from Western norms. For instance, it is considered rude to touch someone's head or to point your feet at someone. The local diet, which includes a lot of rice and fish, may also be difficult for some expats to adjust to. Additionally, the pace of life in Kampong Chhnang is much slower than in many Western countries, which can be frustrating for those used to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Lastly, the hot and humid climate can be challenging for those not used to tropical weather," said a member in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia.
