What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Chinandega. They wrote...
"Expats in Chinandega often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The pace of life can also be a challenge, as it is significantly slower compared to Western countries, which can lead to frustrations when dealing with bureaucratic processes or business transactions. Additionally, the concept of time is more relaxed in Nicaragua, which can be difficult for expats used to strict schedules and punctuality. The heat and humidity in Chinandega can also be a challenge for those not used to tropical climates. Lastly, while Nicaraguans are generally friendly and welcoming, cultural differences and local customs can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or miscommunications," wrote a member who made the move to Chinandega, Nicaragua.
