What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Playa Panama. They wrote...
"Expats in Playa Panama often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. They also sometimes struggle with the slower pace of life, known as "Tico time", which can be frustrating for those accustomed to more punctual cultures. The lack of certain amenities and conveniences that they might be used to from their home countries can also be a challenge. Additionally, understanding and navigating the local bureaucracy and legal systems can be difficult for expats. Lastly, adapting to the local cuisine, which is different from what they might be used to, can also be a challenge for some expats," commented one expat who made the move to Playa Panama, Costa Rica.
