What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Hradec Kralove. They wrote...
"Expats in Hradec Kraloveublic often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture. The Czech language is complex and difficult to learn, which can make everyday tasks like shopping or using public transportation more difficult. Another challenge is the reserved nature of Czech people. They are typically not as open and outgoing as people from other cultures, which can make it harder for expats to make friends and feel integrated into the community. The bureaucracy in the Czech Republic can also be a challenge for expats. Dealing with government offices and paperwork can be a complex and time-consuming process, especially for those who are not fluent in Czech. Additionally, the Czech Republic has a very distinct culture and traditions that can be difficult for expats to understand and adapt to. This includes everything from social norms and etiquette to holiday celebrations and food. Finally, the weather can also be a challenge for some expats, especially those from warmer climates. The winters in Hradec Kralove can be quite cold and long, which can be a big adjustment for those not used to such conditions," wrote a member who made the move to Hradec Kralove, Czechia.
