What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Bolans. They wrote...
"Expats in Bolans often find the slow pace of life challenging, as the local culture values relaxation and leisure over urgency and efficiency. The concept of 'island time' can be frustrating for those used to more punctual and structured environments. Language can also be a challenge, as while English is the official language, the local dialect can be difficult to understand at first. The high cost of living is another challenge, as imported goods can be expensive and local salaries may not match up to those in more developed countries. Expats may also find it difficult to integrate into the local community, as Antiguans are known for their close-knit communities and it can take time to be accepted. Lastly, the lack of certain amenities and services that one might be used to in their home country, such as high-speed internet or certain healthcare services, can be a challenge for some expats," remarked another expat who made the move to Bolans, Antigua & Barbuda.
