What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Five Islands Village. They wrote...

"Expats in Five Islands Village, Antigua and Barbuda, often find the laid-back, "island time" pace of life challenging to adjust to, especially if they are used to a fast-paced, highly scheduled lifestyle. The local dialect, which is a mix of English and Creole, can also be difficult to understand for those not familiar with it. Additionally, the high cost of living and limited availability of certain goods and services can be a challenge. Some expats may also struggle with the heat and humidity of the tropical climate. Lastly, while locals are generally friendly and welcoming, it can take time to fully integrate into the community and understand the nuances of the local culture," said another expat in Five Islands Village, Antigua & Barbuda.
