What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Bathsheba. They wrote...
"Expats in Bathsheba may find the local dialect, Bajan, challenging to understand as it is a unique blend of British English and West African languages. The laid-back, slower pace of life, often referred to as 'island time', can also be a challenge for those used to a more fast-paced, punctual lifestyle. The high cost of living, particularly for imported goods, can be another hurdle for expats. Additionally, adjusting to the local cuisine, which is heavily based on seafood and local produce, might be difficult for some. Lastly, the hot and humid climate can be a challenge for those not accustomed to tropical weather," remarked another expat in Bathsheba, Barbados.
