What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Mon Repos. They wrote...

"Expats in Mon Repos may find the local Creole language challenging to understand and speak, as it is a unique blend of French, English, and African languages. They may also struggle with the laid-back, "island time" pace of life, which can be a stark contrast to the fast-paced, deadline-driven cultures they may be used to. The local cuisine, while delicious, can be quite different from Western food, and may take some getting used to. Additionally, the high levels of poverty and unemployment in the area can be confronting for expats from more affluent countries. Lastly, the tropical climate, with its high humidity and frequent rain, can be difficult to adjust to," remarked another expat who made the move to Mon Repos, Saint Lucia.
