What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Santa Cruz La Laguna. They wrote...

"Expats in Santa Cruz La Laguna often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone speaks English. Additionally, the pace of life is much slower than what many expats are used to, which can be frustrating for those accustomed to a faster, more efficient lifestyle. The local customs and traditions can also be difficult to understand and adapt to, especially for those from very different cultural backgrounds. The lack of certain amenities and conveniences that are common in more developed countries can also be a challenge. Lastly, while the local people are generally friendly and welcoming, it can take time to build relationships and fully integrate into the community," said another expat in Santa Cruz La Laguna, Guatemala.
