What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Rio Dulce. They wrote...
"Expats in Rio Dulce often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone speaks English. Additionally, the pace of life is much slower than what many expats are used to, which can be frustrating when trying to get things done. The local customs and traditions can also be difficult to understand and adapt to, especially for those who come from very different cultural backgrounds. The lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or certain types of food, can also be a challenge. Lastly, safety can be a concern, as crime rates can be high in certain areas," commented one expat who made the move to Rio Dulce, Guatemala.
