What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Puerto Cortes. They wrote...

"Expats in Puerto Cortes often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more structured lifestyle. Additionally, the lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or certain types of healthcare, can be difficult to adjust to. The high levels of poverty and crime can also be shocking and difficult to navigate. Lastly, cultural differences in attitudes towards punctuality, personal space, and social norms can also pose challenges for expats," commented one expat who made the move to Puerto Cortes, Honduras.
