What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Abidjan. They wrote...
"the slowliness and uneffectiveness. the fact that i never know if someone likes me because of my wallet or because of me as a person. the noise and that you can hardly walk on the streets without being bugged by someone," remarked another expat who made the move to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
"Expats in Abidjan often find the language barrier to be one of the most challenging aspects of the local culture. Additionally, the city's rapid growth and development can make it difficult to navigate and find one's way around. Furthermore, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to understand and adjust to, especially for those coming from different cultural backgrounds. Finally, the cost of living in Abidjan can be quite high, making it difficult for expats to find affordable housing and other necessities," explained one expat living in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
