What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Santa Catalina. They wrote...
"Expats in Santa Catalina often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or a wide variety of shopping options, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also find it challenging to navigate the local bureaucracy, particularly when it comes to legal matters or obtaining necessary permits and paperwork. Lastly, cultural differences in social norms and etiquette can also pose a challenge for some expats," remarked another expat who made the move to Santa Catalina, Panama.
