What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Playa Blanca. They wrote...

"Expats in Playa Blanca often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. They also find the slower pace of life, known as "Panama time", to be a significant adjustment, as it can often lead to delays and inefficiencies in services. The heat and humidity can also be a challenge for those not used to tropical climates. Additionally, some expats may struggle with the local cuisine, which is heavily based on rice, beans, and seafood. Lastly, understanding and navigating the local bureaucracy can be difficult, particularly when it comes to legal matters or dealing with utilities and services," said another expat in Playa Blanca, Panama.
