What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Las Lajas. They wrote...
"Expats in Las Lajas often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the concept of "Panamanian time", where punctuality is not as strictly adhered to as in other cultures, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also struggle with the lack of certain amenities and conveniences they were used to in their home countries. Lastly, understanding and adapting to local customs and traditions can be a challenge for some expats," remarked another expat in Las Lajas, Panama.
