What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Contadora Island. They wrote...
"Expats in Contadora Island often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. They may also struggle with the slower pace of life, which is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of many Western countries. The concept of "island time" can be frustrating for those used to punctuality and efficiency. Additionally, the lack of certain amenities and services that they may be accustomed to in their home countries can be a challenge. The local cuisine, while delicious, may also take some getting used to for those not familiar with Panamanian food. Lastly, adjusting to the tropical climate, with its high humidity and heat, can be difficult for some expats," said a member in Contadora Island, Panama.
