Will I save money living in Bern?
We asked expats if they save money living in Bern. They said...
"The cost of living in Bern, is generally higher than in most parts of the United States. This includes expenses such as housing, groceries, and dining out. However, the exact amount you might save or spend more will depend on your lifestyle and the specific city in the U.S. you're comparing it to. For instance, living in Bern might be cheaper than living in New York City but more expensive than living in a smaller U.S. city or town. In addition, while the cost of living may be higher in Bern, the quality of life is also often considered to be higher. Switzerland has excellent healthcare, education, and public transportation systems. It's also worth noting that salaries in Switzerland are typically higher than in the U.S., which can offset the higher cost of living. Furthermore, Switzerland has a high level of safety, cleanliness, and natural beauty, with easy access to outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. These factors, while not directly related to cost, can contribute to a higher overall quality of life. In conclusion, while you may not necessarily save money living in Bern compared to the U.S., the higher cost of living can be balanced out by higher wages and a high quality of life," commented one expat who made the move to Bern, Switzerland.
